CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System)
Latest tracked round is draw 414, a French-language proficiency category round. Latest tracked date: 2026-04-29. EOIs invited: 4,000. Lowest invited CRS score: 400.
Pool Validity
An Express Entry profile can stay in the pool for 12 months if no invitation is issued. Once invited, the ITA is only valid for 60 days, so document readiness matters before entering the pool, not after.
Program Routing
Express Entry is one pool, not a menu you manually pick from at invitation time. If a profile is eligible for more than one managed program, IRCC currently routes invitations in this order: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Applicants cannot choose a different program for the invitation.
Category-Based Reality
Express Entry is no longer just a general-score pool. Category-based selection remains active, and the current official category list includes French-language proficiency, Healthcare and social services occupations, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations, Trade occupations, plus 6 additional categories. Candidates still need to be eligible for one of the 3 managed programs before a category round can matter.
Round Mechanics
Latest tracked round is draw 414, a French-language proficiency category round. The current pack tracks 4,000 invitations in the latest official round on 2026-04-29. The lowest invited CRS score there was 400. If more than one candidate lands on the cut-off score, IRCC breaks the tie using the date and time the profile was submitted.
Profile Maintenance
IRCC gives candidates 60 days to finish and submit a new Express Entry profile once they start it. While in the pool, updates matter: new language tests, new job offers, and family-status changes should be reported. Updating the profile does not reset the original submission timestamp for tie-break purposes.
In-Pool Failure Modes
An Express Entry profile can quietly fall out of play even before the 12-month expiry. IRCC lists expired language results, expired ECA results, and no longer having enough settlement funds as common reasons a profile may become ineligible while still in the pool.
Job Offer Score Reset
IRCC removed CRS job-offer points on 2025-03-25. That means arranged employment no longer adds the old 50/200-point bonus in the pool, even though job-offer details still matter where underlying program eligibility rules continue to use them.
